I went into this movie knowing only that it was based off of a fairly highly regarded book (that I have not read) and although I was little weary of it at first I really enjoyed it. John Dies At The End is a comic horror movie, I found it had more in common with classic science fiction then most horror but horror probably sells it better. The movie is pretty existential at times with exploration of space, time, and alternate realities but is also very light and accessible. John Dies At The End also does not fall into horror trends of being overly violent, or being full jump scares making a gem of modern horror. It does however have lots of action and lots of laughs and is a great movie if your looking for some thought provoking light fun!
